dk Gallery Opening…

What a great evening! The “All Creatures Great and Small” show at dk Gallery featured Susan Easton Burns, who was recently named the 2014 official artist of the 140th Kentucky Derby as well as a few guest artists. We didn’t grab as many pics as we wanted to from the event (we got busy talking with such a great turnout for the show!), but here are a few highlights from my little section. I am thrilled over red dots beside several of my paintings! The show is still up for a little while longer and it is definitely worthwhile to take it all in…

All Creatures Great and Small!

It’s almost here! The “All Creatures Great and Small” show at dk Gallery opens this Friday night! I am truly so honored to be a part of this show at such an amazing gallery with such wonderful artists. I have had so much fun preparing my little series for this show. Although I painted a few dogs (as to be expected), I branched out to include a few of my other favorite furry and feathery creatures. I’ve seen a few pieces from some of the other artists; this is going to be a spectacular show! If you are in the area, please feel free to drop by dk Gallery on the Marietta Square on Friday, October 4th between the hours of 5 and 9pm. This special show opening is in conjunction with Art Walk happening all around the Square… all the more reason to come out and enjoy the evening!

I’m not going to ruin the complete series. But here is a little sampling of a few pieces created for “All Creatures Great and Small”…

Late Spring Projects!

Better late than never! Here are a few of our new Spring projects from the art classroom. Each piece of art turned out beautifully. I don’t know who was more thrilled:  me or the kiddos! As is the case with all new projects, I usually gauge if the project is worth making it a “regular” project from year to year and I have a feeling that all of these will be back next year. I will not bore you with lesson plans, but these masterpieces are all very fun and relatively easy to duplicate at home!

A “Lucky” Painting…

Some of you may know that I have a soft spot for pitbulls. As much as I adore this misunderstood breed, it is rare that I get an order to paint one. I was beyond excited when I got the order to paint Lucky. It was hard to pick out just one photo to work from; he’s such a ham and quite photogenic! Lucky is a lucky rescue pup. I think that he spreads a feeling of luck all around as seen in all of the hilarious outfits his Mama puts on him and the smiles he brings to the faces all around him! I certainly felt lucky to have the honor of painting sweet Lucky! The Lucky painting was a present from my sister-in-law’s brother to his wife.
