Working with Claire Dunaway on the portrait of my dog, Squishy, was a wonderful experience. I commissioned the painting as a surprise anniversary gift for my husband, and she delivered more than either of us could have ever imagined.
Claire came out to our house to meet Squishy and help me pick out a great photo off which to base the painting. Once she began working on it, she regularly sent me updates asking for my opinion and any changes (I usually didn’t have any!). It was cool to see the painting in various stages through these updates, but I was still blown away when I saw the finished product for the first time. The best way to express it is that Claire has a gift of seeing the soul of a dog. It’s something about how she captures their personality in their eyes and face. We are obsessed with the painting of Squishy and cannot emphasize enough how talented Claire is at her art. We will treasure our painting forever!
My husband’s perspective:
Claire’s work was so amazing, I had trouble processing what was happening when my wife showed me the completed painting the first time. I love this piece almost as much as my dog.
