February Art Break…

It’s winter break for Cobb County Schools and I could not be more thrilled! (Winter Break aka “February art break” in Dunaway Studios). After getting a bit behind on orders and commitments due to a mural that took longer than expected I desperately needed this time. Lesson learned: murals are fun but not advisable during the school year. On Friday I delivered the Bugatti painting, Saturday was devoted to finishing/varnishing the mural (and engagement celebration dinner for fun!), Sunday and Monday were spent re-creating the painting for the FFA Gala (it’s my 2nd year of being asked to re-create my original painting!), on Tuesday I polished off the FFA painting, delivered a horse painting to CFR for the Oscar night event (www.atlantaredcarpet.com), prepped a “3 owl” canvas and finished my wholesale app for American Apparel (it’s more like a job interview!). LOVE this stuff! I’ve been organizing a bit every day and I’m taking a break for lunch with my amazing 94-year-old grandmother today (and realizing that I need to take more time for loved ones). The rest of the to-do’s: finish the owl painting, two dog commissions, the table for Chairish the Future (www.chairishthefuture.com), replenish onesies, create a new screen-print design, make a big batch of doggy cookies for T & A (yep) and to freeze for upcoming Relay for Life bake sale, make a few batches of Ziti and “re-energize” by getting a few new Zumba dances together. All weeks are not like this. But I am SO lucky to have this week and blessed to have things that can fill a week up. And I remind myself not to get too caught up in the craziness of to-do’s…
